Seeking Sunrise Therapy & Counselling - Sonia (CCC, MC)

Seeking Sunrise Therapy & Counselling is a space for real, human connection that meets people where they are, without pretense or pressure. The name Seeking Sunrise comes from a simple truth: even after the darkest nights, we can move toward something brighter. Healing is not about racing to the top of the mountain; it is about finding the courage to take one steady step at a time, with someone beside you, and sometimes a very loving dog.

This practice was created to make therapy feel less like a clinical appointment and more like real life — alive, honest, and full of warmth and humour. The work is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in compassion. Whether clients are navigating grief, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, or simply the heaviness of being human, sessions invite honesty, presence, and room to breathe.

My practice offers multiple ways to connect:

  • Walk-and-talk sessions that integrate movement, grounding, and nature.

  • Virtual sessions for those who prefer the comfort and accessibility of home.

  • In-office sessions in a calm, welcoming space for that allow for more cuddle time with Parker.

  • Kayak therapy sessions on the water for deeper reflection, movement, and mindfulness.

All sessions (besides kayak) are offered alongside Parker, the therapy dog, who brings warmth, grounding, and the kind of gentle presence that words sometimes cannot reach. Parker has a gift for quiet companionship, the occasional tail thump, and sometimes a full-body flop into your lap mid-session. His presence reminds us that healing does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. However, therapy dog FREE sessions are available on Wednesdays.

This practice is rooted in the belief that a little humour, a bit of rawness, time in nature, and a dog by your side can go a long way. Clients are welcomed exactly as they are: messy, hopeful, heartbroken, or all of the above. Sessions are guided by empathy, honesty, and the belief that hope can look as simple as showing up, taking a breath, and trying again tomorrow.

Free 20-minute consultations are available to help you learn more about the process, ask questions, and see if this feels like the right fit for you.
