Better at Home is a community-project funded by the BC Government and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland in partnership with Sunshine Coast Community Services Society. It supports seniors to live in their own homes, age with dignity, and stay connected with their community by providing community-based non-medical home support services using a mix of paid staff and volunteers.more info
Choice in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL) is a direct funding model of self-managed home support for people with high physical care needs.
Instead of paying a home support agency to provide services, we provide you with money to hire your own home support workers.
CSIL places greater responsibility on you but also gives you greater flexibility, choice and autonomy to manage your home support services.more info
Specialized mental health services for 65 or older who are affected by a decline in cognitive status; the recent onset of a major affective disorder or another mental illness. Multi-disciplinary assessments consist of psychiatry, nursing and occupational therapy. They also provide Therapy Support groups for caregivers and support and education for persons having received a diagnosis of early stages of dementia. Help on the Way provides the community of the Sunshine Coast with a variety of home and health care services. Elderly and infirm clients can safely remain in their own homes and enjoy the surroundings they are accustomed to, offering a viable alternative to a care home.more info
